I remember sitting in the studio at music school, experimenting with my Aria bass, when it came time to teach my little student how to play "Ode to Joy".
I was playing melody on the piano along with her with my right hand and I didn't realize that my left hand was instinctively playing the root notes on the
bass guitar at the same time and it was sounding wild! I could hardly wait for the evening to finish so I could rush home and explore this new style.
The more I played, the more I realized that this wasn't about how well one plays the piano or how well one plays the bass but rather it's considering them
together as one instrument - very cool! It bends your mind to a different path but once you are on that path you enter a whole new world of possible changes, lines, trades, and much more!
The next step in this ongoing evoltuion is to, of course, play with a live drummer instead of a machine.
This is something I hope to do in the near future so the next CD will have even more of the feeling of "flowing with the impulse".
This whole concept had to be captured while it was fresh, so the songs you are hearing more composed and recorded in a couple of days. I hope that any
inconsistencies that may result will be completly overshadowed by your fascination with this intriguing new approach. ENJOY!
